“Signs” A must see!

Starring Mel Gibson, M. Night Shyamalon's suspenseful, science fiction movie Signs puts a mans faith to the test. In modern day Pennsylvania, Graham (Gibson), a former minister, along with his brother Merrill (Joaquin Phoenix) and his two kids Bo (Abigail Breslin) and Morgan (Rory Culkin), are put through a situation that straddles the fence between reality and make believe.

At first, the family thought everything was apart of their imagination. The thought of "Aliens" just didn't seem real. But maybe something changed in the mind of the children, Bo and Morgan, when crop circles began to appear. Graham and Merrill still were skeptical about this whole situation by blaming it on people they didn't even know. Not until Aliens were being caught on film, and actually saw them for themselves, did they know that there was something out there other than themselves. With little faith, they sit down for there last dinner as a family.

By Graham's faith being put to the test, he is put through situations that make him second guess reality. From hearing things:  such as dogs whining ,footsteps and on the roof and voices through a monitor. To seeing things such as: Crop circles, long fingers, and space ships, Graham has to believe. By leaving the grace of God because of his dissapointment, maybe going back is just what he needs.

Is it our imagination that scares us the most? Some of M. Night Shymalon's greatest work during movie scenes would have to be his photography skill. His work is original and unlike any other. The angles of the shots make the film a lot more joyous than if they were plain face to face shots. Flashbacks, in my opinion, was the best of his works because it tied in to the movie in such a slick way.

I would recommend that viewers pay attention to the smallest parts of the movie that seem of less importance because they mean the most. The movie Signs is a movie where you have to think to get the moral of the story. The meaning of the story is more than meets the eye.
